BNP secures clean sweep across Cox's Bazar constituencies

BNP candidates secured victories in all four parliamentary constituencies of Cox's Bazar following the completion of vote counting.
Returning Officer Md A Mannan declared the unofficial results at the Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner's office today (13 February).

Cox's Bazar-1 (Chakaria-Pekua)
In the Cox's Bazar-1 constituency, which has 540,490 voters, BNP-nominated candidate Salahuddin Ahmed received 222,019 votes from 178 polling centres, including postal ballots.
His nearest rival, Abdullah Al Faruk of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 129,728 votes, while Md Sarwar Ali Kutubi of Islami Andolan Bangladesh received 4,528 votes.
A total of 356,275 valid votes were cast, with 6,162 cancelled ballots. Overall, 362,437 votes were cast, representing 67.06% turnout.
Cox's Bazar-2 (Maheshkhali-Kutubdia)
In the Cox's Bazar-2 constituency, which has 387,851 voters, BNP candidate Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid secured 125,543 votes from 125 polling centres, including postal ballots. His main rival, AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, received 91,889 votes.
Among other candidates, Ziaul Haque of Islami Andolan Bangladesh received 8,799 votes, Md Mahmudul Haque of Jatiya Party received 757 votes, and SM Rokonuzzaman Khan of Gono Odhikar Parishad received 197 votes.
A total of 227,185 valid votes were cast, with 5,524 cancelled ballots. Overall turnout stood at 232,709 votes, or 60%.
Cox's Bazar-3 (Sadar-Ramu-Eidgaon)
In the Cox's Bazar-3 constituency, which has 545,964 voters, BNP candidate Lutfur Rahman secured 182,096 votes from 183 polling centres, including postal ballots. His nearest rival, Shahidul Alam Bahadur of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, received 161,827 votes.
Among other candidates, Amirul Islam of Islami Andolan Bangladesh received 5,149 votes, independent candidate Mohammad Elias Mia received 947 votes, Jagadish Barua of Bangladesh Labour Party received 602 votes, and Nurul Absar of Amjanata Dal received 367 votes.
A total of 350,988 valid votes were cast, with 5,606 cancelled ballots. Overall turnout was 356,594 votes, or 65.31%.
Cox's Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf)
In the Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, which has 375,688 voters, BNP candidate Shahjahan Chowdhury received 123,582 votes from 116 polling centres, including postal ballots.
His nearest rival, Nur Ahmad Anowari of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 122,033 votes. Nurul Haque of Islami Andolan Bangladesh received 4,338 votes, while Saifuddin Khaled of National Democratic Alliance received 379 votes.
A total of 250,332 valid votes were cast, with 4,899 cancelled ballots. Overall votes cast stood at 250,231, with turnout recorded at 67.94%.
The returning officer announced the unofficial results after the completion of counting across all four constituencies.
