Amir Khasru pledges to turn Chattogram into logistics hub
To address long-standing healthcare challenges in the constituency, he pledged to construct a modern 1,200-bed hospital.
BNP Standing Committee member and candidate for the Chattogram-11 constituency, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, has announced plans to transform Chattogram into a logistics hub.
Speaking at a press conference at his Mehedibagh residence in the city today (9 February), Khasru said, "The immense development potential of Chattogram primarily stems from its port. By integrating the port and the coastal region, we will build a logistics hub that will be open not only for Bangladesh but also for neighbouring countries."
Khasru added, "Through this hub, Chattogram will be established as a key centre of global trade, playing a significant role in regional connectivity. Once this logistics hub becomes operational, it will bring a transformative change to Chattogram's economy and open up new horizons for employment."
As part of his election campaign, Amir Khasru unveiled his core theme, "11 in 11," outlining 11 specific commitments for the development of the Port–Patenga–Sadarghat area.
He said, "When foreign investors come to Bangladesh, the first thing they examine is the port's delivery time and logistics capacity. Therefore, Chattogram must be developed in a way that demonstrates full capability in global trade. Alongside this, we will integrate tourism, hospitality and education sectors to improve the overall quality of life for the people of this region."
To address long-standing healthcare challenges in the constituency, he pledged to construct a modern 1,200-bed hospital.
Amir Khasru noted that there is currently a shortage of advanced medical facilities across the vast Chattogram-11 area, which the proposed hospital would help resolve.
He also placed special emphasis on creating new entrepreneurs through freelancing, outsourcing and startup programmes for young people.
The BNP leader said sustainable employment for the new generation can be ensured not only through conventional degrees but also through technical and vocational education.
In terms of urban development, Khasru promised to build a planned and aesthetically designed "planned city."
He said that by preserving Chattogram's natural beauty; surrounded by hills, rivers and the sea, and through coordination between the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) and the City Corporation, an integrated master plan would be implemented.
His 11-point pledge also includes resolving waterlogging and traffic congestion, ensuring access to safe drinking water, and building a terrorism-free and secure area through joint efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public.
