Jiangxi University celebrates Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival, Duānwǔ Jié, Double Fifth, Tuen Ng Jit) is a traditional holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan (Chu Yuan).

Jiangxi University celebrates Dragon Boat Festival

Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China has celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional and important celebration in China with foreign students who are studying at the university.

The Overseas Education School of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics arranged this program with the participation of the faculty members of OES and foreign students.

On this day OES distributed the traditional Dragon Boat Festival food called Zongzi and lunch coupons among international students. OES arranged halal Zongzi for Muslim students.

The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival, Duānwǔ Jié, Double Fifth, Tuen Ng Jit) is a traditional holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan (Chu Yuan). The festival is held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar.

It is a folk festival celebrated for over 2,000 years when Chinese people practice various customs thought to dispel disease and invoke good health.

The Dragon Boat Festival 2020 fell on June 25. China will have 3 days of holiday from June 25 to June 27, and will be back at work on Sunday, June 28.
Some of the most traditional customs include dragon boat racing, eating sticky rice dumplings (zongzi), hanging Chinese mugwort and calamus, drinking realgar wine, and wearing perfume pouches.
