Pakistan confirms mediating US-Iran talks, says Turkey, Egypt supporting efforts
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the United States has shared a set of 15 points, which Iran is currently deliberating
Pakistan has confirmed it is mediating indirect talks between the United States and Iran amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, with support from countries including Turkey and Egypt, reports Al Jazeera.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Islamabad has been relaying messages between Washington and Tehran as part of mediation efforts.
He said the United States has shared a set of 15 points, which Iran is currently deliberating.
"There has been unnecessary speculation in the media regarding peace talks to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. In reality, US-Iran indirect talks are taking place through messages being relayed by Pakistan," Dar said in a post on X.
He added that "brotherly countries" such as Turkey and Egypt are also supporting the initiative.
"Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and continues to make every effort to ensure stability in the region and beyond," he said.
"Dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward," he added.
