Goodbye Outlook Lite: Microsoft pulls the plug on lightweight email App
Microsoft is planning to shut down its email client app, Outlook Lite.
The app, which was launched in 2022, was designed for lower-powered Android devices, especially phones with limited storage and users in regions with slower internet connections.
Microsoft had already announced last year that the app would be removed from the Google Play Store in October 2025. Now, the company has confirmed that Outlook Lite will stop functioning for existing users starting next month.
In a support page, Microsoft states, "To continue enjoying a secure and feature-rich email experience, we recommend switching to Outlook Mobile."
Outlook Lite users will still be able to access their existing emails, calendar items, and attachments by signing into Outlook Mobile. Users will also be directed to the Google Play Store to download the standard Outlook app.
