Salahuddin will not contest in the next BFF presidential election

In the wave of change sweeping the country following the government's transition, Kazi Salahuddin has decided to step down voluntarily. The former star footballer has announced that he will not contest in the upcoming election for the president's position of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). Salahuddin made this declaration today at the BFF headquarters.

Salahuddin has served as the BFF president for four consecutive terms. However, he has decided not to run in the election scheduled for October 26. At a press conference at BFF today, he said, "I've had the privilege of serving for four terms, and I consider myself very fortunate for the opportunities I've had. Regarding the upcoming BFF election on October 26, I have decided not to participate. This is my final decision, and I am here to inform you all."

In 2008, Salahuddin was first elected as the president of BFF, the highest governing body of football in the country. He won the position by defeating Major General Amin Ahmed, securing his place as one of the greatest footballers in the nation's history.

Salahuddin was re-elected unopposed in 2012. In the 2016 BFF election, he defeated Kamrul Ashraf to win his third consecutive term as president. In the most recent election, the legendary footballer retained his position by defeating two former national team footballers, Shafiqul Islam Manik and Badal Roy.
