Quarantine in centre of discussion again before SL tour
“We’re still in discussions. Some have been solved, and some are yet to reach a final agreement. The quarantine period has been fixed, but we’re now taking time to fix our quarantining place. They want us to quarantine outside of Colombo, but we want Colombo,” said Akram.

The Bangladesh cricket team was supposed to tour Sri Lanka in July last year to play two Tests which were part of the World Test Championship. It eventually got postponed indefinitely back then because the boards could not agree after a series of discussions on the quarantine period.
The series is finally taking place in April this year. And quarantine is again in the centre of discussion before the series. But this time, it is not about the time, rather about the quarantining place.
The boards couldn't come to an agreement in which city the Bangladesh team will be quarantining. Akram Khan, BCB cricket operations chairman, informed this.
"We're still in discussions. Some have been solved, and some are yet to reach a final agreement. The quarantine period has been fixed, but we're now taking time to fix our quarantining place. They want us to quarantine outside of Colombo, but we want Colombo," said Akram.
Akram added that Colombo would be a beneficiary for the team in so many ways.
Galle may be the only venue to host both the Tests.
"Since they are the hosts, they will finalise everything first. As far as we know, a single venue will host both the Tests, and that may be Galle," added Akram.
Akram also mentioned preferring a local spin coach for the upcoming tour since Daniel Vettori's contract expires after the New Zealand tour.
"Covid has made things difficult for us. We won't get Vettori out of New Zealand for the restrictions now. We are thinking of appointing a local coach for the Sri Lanka tour."
Bangladesh team will fly from New Zealand soon after finishing the current tour on April 2. They will get very little rest since they will be flying to Sri Lanka on April 12. Bangladesh then will host Sri Lanka in May for an ODI series at home.
