Mustafizur and Shakib headline Bangladesh’s IPL 2025 auction list

The IPL 2025 mega auction is set to feature 13 Bangladeshi players, with two seasoned names leading the list: Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan.

Litton Das, who made a brief appearance for Kolkata Knight Riders, also makes the cut alongside 10 others, including stars like Tawhid Hridoy and Taskin Ahmed.

The auction, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia at the end of November, promises a refreshed format following significant changes and an extensive retention period.

The IPL authorities unveiled the names of 574 players shortlisted for the auction on 15 November. Among them, 366 are Indian cricketers, while 208 are from overseas, including three from associate nations. The list features 318 Indian and 12 foreign players who are yet to debut in international cricket. Franchises will have the opportunity to purchase up to 204 Indian and 70 overseas players during the auction.

Bangladeshi stars in focus

Mustafizur Rahman, who has been a key figure in the IPL and has frequently donned the Purple Cap in previous seasons, enters the auction with the highest base price among Bangladeshi players at ₹2 crore. Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Taskin Ahmed have each been listed with a base price of ₹1 crore.

Litton Das, along with Rishad Hossain, Towhid Hridoy, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana, has a base price of ₹75 lakh. These players represent a mix of experienced campaigners and promising newcomers who will aim to secure their spots in the IPL.

A fresh auction format

The IPL 2025 mega auction marks a significant event as it moves to Saudi Arabia, bringing a fresh dynamic to the process. Following an extended retention phase, teams will now strategise with a focus on rebuilding or bolstering their squads.

Out of the 574 shortlisted players, a notable 208 are overseas cricketers, including three from associate nations. The pool consists of experienced international players and emerging talents, with 318 Indian and 12 foreign cricketers yet to debut in international cricket.
