Miraz confident ahead of Zimbabwe series, urges responsibility from all players
Speaking after an impressive performance in the Dhaka Premier League, where he scored an unbeaten 67 off 55 balls and took a wicket, Miraz reflected on his role and the opportunities for younger players in the squad.

Mehedy Hasan Miraz, Bangladesh's all-rounder, is confident heading into the upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe, highlighting the importance of both senior and junior players taking responsibility for the team's success.
Speaking after an impressive performance in the Dhaka Premier League, where he scored an unbeaten 67 off 55 balls and took a wicket, Miraz reflected on his role and the opportunities for younger players in the squad.
The two-match Test series against Zimbabwe will begin on 20 April 2025 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with the second Test scheduled for 28 April at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Miraz sees this as a vital opportunity for emerging players to prove themselves on the international stage.
Miraz emphasised the importance of performing against all opponents, regardless of their reputation. "International matches are always challenging, whether you are playing against a big team or a smaller one. If you perform well, it will be recognised on the international stage," he stated.
He also pointed out that with several senior players retiring, it is now the responsibility of the younger generation to step up and lead. "There are many young players who will get a chance, just like we did in the West Indies series, where we won without several senior players. This series against Zimbabwe will also provide opportunities for them," he said. "However, it is crucial that they make the most of these chances. The senior players have gone, and now it's our turn to take responsibility and perform."
Miraz, reflecting on his own career, added that it is the duty of everyone to take Bangladesh cricket to the next level. "We must gradually take on more responsibility and perform well. It's important for all players to contribute and push the team forward," he said. "We must make the most of these series, improving where we can and helping Bangladesh rise to greater heights."
Miraz also expressed his belief that the break since Bangladesh's last Test match, in December 2024 against the West Indies, would not negatively affect the team. "We have been playing ODIs and the Dhaka Premier League, so the break won't have a negative impact. We will have 10 days to prepare for the Test series and can make the most of that time," he added.
Miraz remains optimistic about the team's chances, drawing confidence from their recent successes. "We played well in the West Indies, and the confidence from that series will certainly help us in the Zimbabwe series," he said, hopeful that the team's momentum will carry through.
