Martinez ruled out of Argentina squad for World Cup qualifiers with hamstring injury
The Inter Milan striker was left on the bench during his side’s Champions League last-16 second-leg win over Feyenoord last week due to muscle discomfort.

Lautaro Martinez will miss Argentina's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil after being sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Argentine FA confirmed on Wednesday.
The Inter Milan striker was left on the bench during his side's Champions League last-16 second-leg win over Feyenoord last week due to muscle discomfort. He returned to action on sunday, scoring in Inter's 2-0 Serie A victory over Atalanta, before joining Lionel Scaloni's squad. However, tests have since confirmed an issue with his left hamstring, ruling him out of the international fixtures.
Martinez joins a growing list of Argentina absentees, including captain Lionel Messi, who is recovering from a muscle strain, as well as Gonzalo Montiel, Giovani Lo Celso, and Paulo Dybala.
Argentina currently lead the CONMEBOL qualifying table with 25 points from 12 matches. The world champions face second-placed Uruguay on friday before hosting fifth-placed Brazil four days later.
