From Malinga to Mashrafe to Hamza – everyone praying for Tamim
Following the news of Bangladesh’s top batsman falling ill, players from home and abroad have taken to social media to send their prayers and well wishes

Tamim Iqbal, who suffered a heart attack before taking the field in a Dhaka Premier League match, has undergone an angioplasty with a stent inserted in his heart.
After spending a considerable amount of time in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), the experienced batsman regained consciousness and began responding. However, doctors have stated that it is too early to declare him out of danger before 24 hours have passed.
Following the news of Bangladesh's top batsman falling ill, players from home and abroad have taken to social media to send their prayers and well wishes. From Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders to footballer Hamza Choudhury, Sri Lankan fast-bowling legend Lasith Malinga, India's Yuvraj Singh, Bangladesh's most successful captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, as well as his former teammates Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz—many have expressed their support and prayers for Tamim's recovery.
Hamza Choudhury, who recently joined the Bangladesh football team, shared a video message, saying, "I was deeply saddened to hear about my fellow countryman Tamim Iqbal's illness. My best wishes to him and his family. Insha'Allah, he will recover well."
Mashrafe wrote, "I couldn't be there, brother. May Almighty Allah be with you. Get well soon and come back stronger, Insha'Allah."
Former Sri Lankan pacer Malinga posted, "Wishing Tamim a swift and full recovery! Keep fighting like you always have on the field."
Indian cricket great Yuvraj Singh sent his wishes, writing, "My thoughts and prayers are with Tamim Iqbal and his family. You have faced tough opponents before and always come back stronger—this time will be no different. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Stay strong, champion!"
Kolkata Knight Riders, the reigning IPL champions, wrote, "Get well soon, Tamim Iqbal. The entire cricketing world is praying for you."
Former India batter Manoj Tiwary also prayed for his friend, saying, "You must win this battle, my friend, in true Tamim Iqbal style! Sending prayers. Wishing you a speedy recovery."
Bangladesh pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed urged everyone to pray for Tamim, stating, "Tamim bhai fell seriously ill during the match at BKSP in Savar, and his condition worsened. Please keep him in your prayers during this difficult time. May Allah grant him a quick recovery."
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz wrote, "Tamim Iqbal bhai has suffered a heart attack and is on life support. Just as you stood firm at the crease, we believe your courage and resilience will help you overcome this tough time. The entire nation believes in your strength. May the Almighty grant you a swift recovery. Ameen."
Soumya Sarkar also prayed for Tamim's recovery, saying, "Wishing you a speedy recovery, Tamim bhaiya."
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam added his prayers, writing, "Tamim bhai, may you recover quickly. We are all waiting for your return. Let's all pray for his swift recovery."
