BCB launches investigation into suspicious dismissals in DPL match
Even to the naked eye, both dismissals appeared questionable, and closer inspection via TV replays has prompted whispers of potential match-fixing.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched an official investigation into two highly suspicious stumpings during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Shinepukur Cricket Club and Gulshan Cricket Club, which have raised concerns over possible foul play.
Even to the naked eye, both dismissals appeared questionable, and closer inspection via TV replays has prompted whispers of potential match-fixing. However, the BCB clarified that without concrete evidence, no such claims can be confirmed. In a statement on Thursday, the board reaffirmed its commitment to upholding integrity and transparency in cricket, declaring a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of corruption.
As part of the inquiry, the two dismissed batsmen were asked on Thursday at the Mirpur Stadium Academy Ground to recreate the manner of their dismissals on camera—something they complied with.
The statement further added that BCB's Anti-Corruption Unit and the league's technical committee have begun a formal investigation to determine if there was any wrongdoing in the match. Depending on the findings, appropriate action will be taken.
The first of the controversial stumpings occurred in the 36th over of Shinepukur's innings. Batter Rahim Ahmed stepped far outside his crease to face spinner Nihaduzzaman but made no effort to play the ball, nor did he attempt to return to the crease—walking straight towards the dressing room without even looking back.
The second, in the 44th over, appeared even more deliberate. Minhazul Abedin Sabbir stepped out but didn't attempt a shot or even try to return to his crease, instead kneeling down and simply watching the ball go by. Despite having a clear chance to make it back, he kept his bat lifted, leading to an easy stumping. His dismissal confirmed Gulshan's narrow 5-run victory and secured their Super League spot.
The incidents shocked commentators, with one remarking live, "Shocking! I've never seen anything like this before." Veteran batsman Shamsur Rahman called the dismissals "seriously shameful" in a Facebook post. Former national team captain Shahriar Nafees echoed the sentiment, posting the video with the caption, "Disgraceful."
