Rain, wet field, and dim lighting—today in Sylhet, nature seemed to have played a bigger role than the players! On the third day of the Test, only 44 overs were played. Bangladesh ended the day 112 runs ahead.
Due to the wet field, no balls were bowled in the first session. Finally, after a delay of three hours from the scheduled start time, the game resumed.
Starting the day with 1 wicket for 57 runs, Bangladesh lost another 3 wickets, adding 137 runs. The second-wicket partnership between Muminul Haque and Mahmudul Hasan contributed 60 runs. After that, the pair of Muminul and captain Najmul Hossain added another 65 runs. It was during this partnership that Bangladesh took the lead.
Muminul was dismissed for 47 runs, but Najmul remained unbeaten on 60 as he left the field. He was well supported by Zakir Ali, who was on 21*. However, the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim once again failed with the bat, just like in the first innings. He faced 20 balls, scoring only 4 runs before being caught at first slip by Ervine off the bowling of Zimbabwe's pacer Muzarabani. Mushfiqur was dismissed on the 41.4 over mark.
Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani claimed 3 wickets, while Victor Nyauchi took the other.
