The Simpsons Movie 2 announced for 2027 release
Disney's 20th Century Studios has officially confirmed that 'The Simpsons Movie 2' is in development, with a release date set for 23 July 2027. The announcement, made on social media, was accompanied by a poster illustrated by creator Matt Groening featuring the show's iconic pink doughnut.
The sequel will arrive nearly 20 years after the first film, which premiered in July 2007 and earned more than $536 million worldwide. While details of the new storyline remain under wraps, fans can expect another big-screen outing for Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie just ahead of the show's landmark 40th season in 2028.
The Simpsons remains one of television's longest-running and most influential comedies, with over 750 episodes aired since its debut in 1989. Its return to cinemas reflects Disney's confidence in the enduring appeal of the Springfield family, whose satirical humour continues to resonate across generations.
