Metallica meets the metaverse

Metallica has unleashed a groundbreaking concert experience through Apple's Vision Pro headset, taking fans closer than ever to the stage.
Launched Friday, the 25-minute immersive show—filmed during the band's M72 tour in Mexico City—lets viewers stand behind drummer Lars Ulrich, soar above the crowd, or virtually mingle in the pit, capturing every electrifying moment in ultra-detailed 3D. The experience features hits like Whiplash, One, and Enter Sandman.
To celebrate, bassist Robert Trujillo surprised fans at the Apple Store in Los Angeles, joining them anonymously as they tested the six-minute demo before revealing his identity. He praised the tech's realism, saying, "You can feel the music—you can look into the fans' eyes."
Following immersive releases from Alicia Keys and The Weeknd, Metallica's venture marks another bold step in Apple's entertainment lineup. While the $3,500 price tag is steep, demos are now available at Apple Stores.
