Enter Sandman triggers ‘Metallica Quake’

Metallica's 7 May performance at Lane Stadium became more than a concert—it caused a seismic event.
As the band closed with 'Enter Sandman', over 60,000 fans jumped in unison, creating ground tremors detected by the Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory, a mile away.
Though the quake posed no danger and was measured under magnitude 1.0, it sparked a social media frenzy under the name 'Metallica Quake'.
The song, a tradition at Virginia Tech football games, holds special significance for locals. Virginia Tech Athletics celebrated the moment online, thanking the band. The concert was part of Metallica's M72 World Tour, promoting their album '72 Seasons', with support from Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies, and Ice Nine Kills.
