Jaya Ar Sharmin to stream on Chorki from this week

Filmmaker Piplu R Khan's pandemic-inspired film Jaya Ar Sharmin will premiere on Bangladeshi OTT platform Chorki at 12:01 am on 25 September.
The film, which hit theatres in May, centres on two women—an actress and her domestic aide—confined together during the Covid-19 lockdown. Within the isolation, their fragile bond shifts from connection to collapse, capturing the psychological toll of solitude and strained relationships.
The cast features Jaya Ahsan and Mohsina Akter in lead roles, with Tanzim Saiyara Totini appearing in a guest role. The screenplay was co-written by Piplu and Nusrat Islam Mati.
"We are very happy that Jaya Ar Sharmin is coming to OTT. The film explores women's psychology, and I feel female audiences will particularly relate to it," said Piplu, adding that many expatriate Bangladeshis had requested access to the film.
Reflecting on the experience, Jaya Ahsan recalled the unusual conditions of filming: "We worked with a minimal unit, often doing our own costumes for hygiene. It felt less like acting and more like living the reality of lockdown."
Co-star Mohsina Akter highlighted the creative freedom she received, noting that the story ultimately reminded her of life's fragility and the value of human relationships.
