Ghost of Yōtei State of Play wows with bold new features

Sony and Sucker Punch Productions just dropped a major reveal for 'Ghost of Yōtei' during their July 2025 State of Play showcase, offering fans an in-depth look ahead of its 2 October release on PS5.
The 20-minute presentation introduced Atsu, a warrior out for revenge against the mysterious Yōtei Six. Set in Ezo's stunning landscapes, the game emphasises player freedom like never before, encouraging exploration, combat, and personal storytelling through a new Clue System. Players can follow leads that guide them to snow-capped peaks or fire-ravaged villages, shaping Atsu's path however they choose.
Combat is sharper and bloodier, with new weapons like the kusarigama and odachi, plus ranged options including a bow and even a gun. Atsu can also rely on a fierce wolf companion to help in brutal fights.
Classic Kurosawa Mode returns alongside new cinematic filters inspired by Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe, offering unique ways to experience Atsu's journey.
With deep customisation, new side activities, and rich environmental storytelling, Ghost of Yōtei promises a thrilling samurai adventure when it launches this fall.
