Corsair Sabre V2 Pro: A featherweight contender for competitive gamers
At just 36 grams, this is one of the lightest gaming mice in the market, but the compromises in battery life and durability may divide opinions
How light is too light for a gaming mouse? Corsair's new Sabre V2 Pro Ultralight Wireless tries to answer that question. At 36 grams, it is among the lightest full-bodied wireless mice on the market.
The design choice is deliberate — in fast shooters, every millisecond matters, and a lighter mouse promises swifter reactions.
Pick it up and the weight (or the lack of it) is striking. The Sabre V2 Pro feels almost hollow, yet it carries a Marksman S sensor capable of 33,000 DPI and supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate. That specification is impressive, though the battery takes a hit. At the standard 1,000 Hz setting, Corsair claims up to 70 hours of life. Push it to 8,000 Hz, and that drops sharply to around 16 hours, according to The Verge.
The shape is conventional, available in black or white, with two side buttons and optional grip tape for sweaty palms. Build quality feels solid despite the thin shell, but concerns about long-term durability remain.
When hardware is pushed to this extreme, robustness is often the first casualty.
Corsair has also shifted configuration away from heavy software. Instead, a browser-based tool allows quick tweaks to DPI and macros without clogging up storage. It is simple and effective, although currently limited to certain browsers.
At a price of $100, the Sabre V2 Pro undercuts some rivals, but it still sits in the premium bracket. What buyers are paying for is the weight, or more accurately the absence of it.
For competitive players chasing every advantage, this mouse offers real gains. For casual gamers, the trade-offs in battery life and potential fragility may feel less convincing.
