Black Flag Resynced: Ubisoft confirms iconic pirate remake
Ubisoft has finally ended years of speculation by officially unveiling Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced. The announcement, shared via a blog post on 5 March, included the first piece of concept art for the long-rumoured remake of the beloved 2013 seafaring adventure.
The project, which surfaced on European ratings boards last December, is described as a "substantial" overhaul. Fans can expect visual and gameplay fidelity on par with Assassin's Creed Shadows, alongside new story content detailing the life of Edward Kenway.
However, reports suggest the modern-day sequences have been excised—a move already sparking debate regarding how the game's narrative conclusion will be restructured.
The timing comes as Ubisoft winds down post-launch support for Shadows to pivot towards the franchise's future. While the next mainline entry, Codename Hexe, remains on the distant horizon, Black Flag Resynced is intended to bridge the gap.
Initially slated for this spring, the title was delayed following a major internal reshuffle. It is now expected to drop within the current financial year, ending 31 March 2027. As Ubisoft teased: "Keep your spyglass on the horizon."
