Dexter prequel cancelled

Paramount has decided not to move forward with a second season of 'Dexter: Original Sin', according to Variety. The prequel series, which premiered in December 2024 and concluded in February 2025, will remain a one-season entry despite a renewal announcement in April. Production had never resumed, and no filming dates were scheduled.
Instead, Paramount is prioritising 'Dexter: Resurrection', the sequel series starring Michael C. Hall. A writers' room for a potential second season is expected to open soon, though renewal is not confirmed. The show, which premiered 11 July, has been a critical and commercial success, drawing 4.4 million viewers across platforms in its first week and earning a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score. Its finale airs 5 September.
Set in 1991, Original Sin depicted Dexter Morgan's formative years, with Patrick Gibson starring as the young anti-hero and Hall voicing his inner monologue.
