Conan O’Brien accepts Mark Twain Prize with a critical speech

Conan O'Brien received the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, using his acceptance speech to subtly critique President Donald Trump's influence over the Kennedy Center.
Honoured by fellow comedians like David Letterman, Adam Sandler, and Stephen Colbert, O'Brien acknowledged Twain's legacy of opposing bullies and hypocrisy. "Twain hated bullies. He punched up, not down. And he deeply, deeply empathised with the weak," O'Brien said, without directly naming Trump.
The event marked the first major gathering at the Kennedy Center since Trump became chairman, replacing longtime philanthropist David Rubenstein. The new board, including White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, recently ousted Kennedy Center president Deborah Rutter. O'Brien publicly thanked both Rubenstein and Rutter, earning loud applause from the audience.
