A would-be robber forgot how to open a locked door to make his escape

An ATM robbery attempt foiled when the robber panicked after the door locked trapping him inside.

ATM room in China's Shandong city shows the man stepping in and immediately getting startled at the sound of the automatic voice message, reports, NDTV.

The man then proceeded to lock the door behind him. A few seconds in, he tried to open it - to no avail, NDTV quoted Shanghaiist reports.

Watch the hilarious robbery fail below:

The footage shows the panic-stricken thief hitting the ATM door with a metal tray when every attempt fails. He then starts smashing the ATM with the metal tray, setting off security alarm.

Finally, the thief managed to unlock the door and escape but was caught by police soon afterwards.
