The sunken launch MV Rishan Morning Bird has been lifted with airbags.

In the meantime, a dead body of a man, aged around 20, was recovered around 1pm.

Jahangir Alam Sikder, a freelancer diver, found the dead body in the engine room of the launch.

The total number to dead now stands at 33. Of the deceased, 22 are men, eight are women and three are children.

Commodore Golam Sadeq, chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), said, "We have lifted the launch and we have brought it to the bank of the river. The owner of the launch will take it from here."

"The rescue work is still going on. We are now checking to make sure that no dead body remains in the launch", he added.

The commodore said, "Divers worked the whole night, and after about 28 hours at around 12.45pm we were finally able to salvage the launch."

Beside BIWTA, the naval police also filed a case accusing seven offenders including the owner of MV Moyur-2 and its operator of causing the accident and deaths.

On Monday morning, the Dhaka-bound launch MV Rishan Morning Bird along with its 50 onboard passengers capsized and sank when the MV Moyur-2 rammed into the vessel from behind.
