The Bangladesh Bank has hiked the prices of commemorative gold coin prices by Tk10,000 in line with the record price surge of gold in the country.

Prices of commemorative gold coins - weighing 10 grams - with boxes titled 'International Mother Language Day-2000', 'Bangabandhu Centenary 1920-2020' and 'Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021' made of 22-carat gold, has been revised to Tk1,25,000, the central bank said today (14 October).

The new prices will come into effect tomorrow (Tuesday).

Earlier on 29 August, the Bangladesh Bank hiked the prices of the coins to Tk1.15 lakh.

Prices of the coins fluctuate depending on gold prices in the local and international markets.

Besides the gold commemorative coins, there are currently 11 commemorative silver coins (fine silver) available in the market.

The weight of these silver commemorative coins ranges from 20 grams to 31.47 grams, and the price of these commemorative silver coins is Tk6,000.
