A Dhaka court today (8 October) summoned Tapasi Tabassum Urmi, the suspended assistant commissioner of Lalmonirhat, in a defamation case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order, accepting the defamation case filed against Urmi for allegedly making derogatory remarks about anti-discrimination movement martyr Abu Sayed and others.

She was asked to appear before the court on 28 November in the case filed by Gono Adhikar Parishad's higher council member Abu Hanif.

According to the case documents, the accused, despite being a government official, made a derogatory post about Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and martyrs of the anti-discrimination movement on her Facebook account.

She vehemently criticised the head of the present government and threatened to topple it, the complainant added.
