Another 317 people were hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours till Friday morning (4 October).

Of the new patients, 50 were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation while 114 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Some 3,473 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.

A total of 34,438 dengue cases and 177 deaths have been reported since 1 January.

As per the DGHS record, 14 people died in January this year, three in February, five in March, two in April, 12 in May, eight in June, 12 in July and 27 in August, and 80 in September.

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record, with 321,179 cases recorded.
