Israel-Iran air war rages as Trump says he 'may' send Witkoff or Vance to meet with Tehran
Washington has said Trump was still aiming for a nuclear deal with Iran, even as the military confrontation unfolds

US President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility that he might send Vice President JD Vance or US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff to negotiate with Iran on a settlement in the conflict with Israel as the air war raged for a fifth straight day.
"I may," he said in response to a corresponding question posed by CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs who quoted Trump on her page on the X social network, reports Reuters.
"It depends what happens when I get back," the US leader said aboard the presidential plane from Canada to the US.
Trump also said he wanted a "real end" to the nuclear problem with Iran, with Iran "giving up entirely" on nuclear weapons.
"You're going to find out over the next two days. You're going to find out. Nobody's slowed up so far," he said.
