Clean Bangladesh, an environmental organisation, carried out a special cleanliness and plastic-free campaign in Chattogram's iconic Central Railway Building (CRB) area today (27 September) in celebration of World Tourism Day.

The initiative, aimed at promoting a cleaner and greener Chattogram, saw volunteers gather early in the morning to begin cleanliness operations.

Often referred to as the "lungs" of Chattogram, the CRB area is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, but it faces significant environmental challenges due to plastic waste.

Clean Bangladesh is determined to address this issue by transforming the area into a plastic-free zone while preserving its natural beauty.

Shaukat Hossain Johnny, founder of Clean Bangladesh, emphasised the importance of protecting this vital green space.

"We want the people of Chattogram to live in a clean and healthy environment. CRB is a place of pride, but its natural beauty is being lost due to plastic pollution. This is why we have taken steps to make it plastic-free," he said.

Tanveer Risat, the team leader of the campaign, highlighted the organisation's commitment to safeguarding the environment. "Through initiatives like this, we aim to keep this area plastic-free, ensuring future generations can enjoy its natural beauty," Risat said.

Clean Bangladesh is recognised for its regular cleanliness drives across various parts of Chattogram, raising awareness about environmental preservation. These efforts not only enhance local hygiene and aesthetics but also contribute to making Chattogram a cleaner and more sustainable hub for tourism.

As a dedicated environmental group, Clean Bangladesh focuses on cleanliness, plastic elimination, and environmental conservation. Their long-term goal is to create a cleaner, greener Bangladesh that everyone can take pride in.
