12 wards in Patuakhali, 4 in Cumilla declared red zones

In the backdrop of the growing number of coronavirus cases in Patuakhali, 12 wards of the southern district have been marked as red zones and another 12 as yellow.

 The district Civil Surgeon Md Jahangir Alam made the declaration on Tuesday which will be effective from tomorrow morning.

The red zone areas are -- ward no-two, three, six, seven and eight under the Patuakhali municipality, ward no-six in Badarpur union under Sadar upazila, ward-one in Sreerampur union and ward-two in Lebukhali union under Dumki upazila, ward-six in Kolapara municipality, ward-two, four and seven in Baufall municipality, ward-two in Sankipur union, ward-one in Doshmina Sadar union, ward-two, three in Bahorampur union, and ward-three in Bashbaria union under the Doshmina upazila.

The yellow zone areas are -- ward-four and five in Patuakhali municipality, ward-seven in Badarpur union under Patuakhali Sadar upazila, ward-four in Angaria union and ward-three in Shreerampur union under Dumki upazila, ward-one, three and some parts of ward-seven in Kolapara municipality, ward-two in Surjomoni union under Baufall upazila and ward-two in Doshmina Sadar upazila.

The Patuakhali district committee held a meeting on June 14 and recommended the zone based division of the areas to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Following this, the National Committee approved the implementation of the recommendations of the meeting.

Meanwhile, lockdown will start in four wards of Cumilla City Corporation from 12am on June 19. This lockdown will continue till July 3.

Ward- three (Racecourse, Shasnagachha), ward-10 (Jhautala, Badurtala, Nazrul Avenue Road), ward-12 (Digambritala, Kapariyapatti) and ward 13 (Chartha) were placed under the lockdown.
