ACC files cases against 2 Dinajpur mayors

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case today (21 August) against four individuals in Dinajpur including two mayors.

A case was filed against Md. Liaqat Ali Sarkar, former mayor of Birampur Municipality in Dinajpur, on charges of embezzling Tk4.13 crore in the name of constructing a municipal market.

A separate case was filed against Md Abu Tayeb Ali Dulal, the current panel mayor of Dinajpur Sadar, for allegedly acquiring illegal assets worth Tk13.4 lakhs.

ACC's Deputy Assistant Director Md Moshiur Rahman filed the cases at the Dinajpur Integrated District Office, as confirmed by ACC's Public Relations Office.

In the first case, the accused are Md Liaqat Ali Sarkar along SM Shafiqul Alam alias Dablu, SM Robiul Islam, and Md. Jewel Diya. 

Additionally, the ACC has filed cases against former Dinajpur Jail Superintendent Md. Saeed Hossain and his wife Sabina Yasmin. 

According to the case details, they are accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk4.40 crore, including bribes and corruption.
