Gulshan flat scam: Charge framing against Tulip Siddiq postponed to 6 May
According to the case filed by the ACC on 15 April last year, the accused allegedly took an Eastern Housing Limited flat in Gulshan-2 without making any payment by abusing power and through collusion.
The hearing on the framing of charges against British MP Tulip Siddiq, daughter of Sheikh Rehana and niece of ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and ex-RAJUK assistant legal adviser Sardar Mosharraf Hossain, in a case over alleged fraud in aquiring a flat in the Gulshan-2 area, has been postponed to 6 May.
The order was passed today (16 April) by Judge Md Abdullah Al Mamun of the Special Judge Court-5 in Dhaka after the day's hearing.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali Salam confirmed the matter, saying the hearing was originally scheduled for today but was adjourned due to the judge's official engagements.
Earlier, on 8 April, the case was transferred to Special Judge Court-5 after Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Md Sabbir Faiz found it ready for trial.
On 18 February, the court accepted the chargesheet against Tulip Siddiq and former adviser Sardar Mosharraf and issued arrest warrants against them.
According to the case filed by the ACC on 15 April last year, the accused allegedly took an Eastern Housing Limited flat in Gulshan-2 without making any payment by abusing power and through collusion.
The flat is identified as Flat No. B/201, House No. 5A & 5B (old), now 113, 11B (new), Road No. 71.
The allegation further states that the accused unlawfully occupied and later registered the property.
The investigation was completed on 11 December, after which the ACC submitted the charge sheet against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain under sections 161/165A/467/468/471/109 of the Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
