ABB expresses concern over attack on Exim Bank high officials

The Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) has expressed its deep concern on a report on the abduction and attempt to murder of Exim Bank's Managing Director (MD) and additional managing director (AMD).

ABB, a forum of banks' managing directors, issued the statement on Saturday.

Mentioning the incident will impact negatively both home and abroad, ABB demanded fair investigation and punishment of the culprits involved.

According to a case filed by the Exim Bank authorities with Gulshan Police Station, two directors of a renowned business group allegedly tried to kill Exim Bank's MD Mohammad Haider Ali Mia and Additional MD Mohammad Firoz Hossain by shooting them for refusing to price the value of the directors'  mortgaged property at a higher level for a loan.

They also tortured the two senior bank officials confining them at a house in Banani and forced them to sign a white paper.
