Tk392cr loan default: Bank Asia withdraws case against Exim Bank after repayment
Bank Asia informed Judge Mujahidur Rahman of Dhaka's Money Loan Court No-5 that the debt had been settled.

The Bank Asia PLC has withdrawn its loan default case against Exim Bank Ltd after the latter repaid Tk392 crore in dues.
Today (3 September), Bank Asia informed Judge Mujahidur Rahman of Dhaka's Money Loan Court No-5 that the debt had been settled. The bank also filed a petition to withdraw the case, which the court granted after a hearing, Md Imrul, an official of the court, told The Business Standard.
Earlier, on 4 August, the same court had attached the Exim Bank head office temporarily over the case. Following that directive, Exim Bank repaid Tk392.21 crore to Bank Asia on 27 August.
According to the case documents, Exim Bank had borrowed Tk350 crore from Bank Asia in 2024 to overcome a liquidity crisis. With interest and profit, the total payable rose to Tk392.21 crore.
When Exim Bank failed to make payment after the loan's maturity, Bank Asia moved to court.
