Fourth portion of budgetary allocation released automatically

The finance ministry has released the fourth instalment of this fiscal year's budgetary allocation as all official activities remain stopped due to the ongoing lockdown enforced to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Different autonomous and non-government organisations under all ministries and divisions can directly spend from the funds.

The Finance Division on Sunday issued a directive in this regard.

As per the directive, there is no need to take permission from the finance ministry and the public administration ministry for releasing the fourth portion of the budgetary allocation to meet the operational costs of the organisations.

The release of the allocated money will be considered as automatic. The autonomous and non-government organisations will be able to spend the money directly.

Sirajun Nur Chowdhury, joint secretary of Finance Division, told The Business Standard, "Different offices have remained closed during the general holiday announced to contain the coronavirus outbreak. In this situation, an advantage has been given that no permission is required to release the funds of the budgetary allocation."

"Only two and months are left in the current fiscal year. Those organisations will find it tough to maintain their costs if the money of the fourth instalment is not released," he added.
