Country run by corrupt businessmen: Amir Khasru
BNP Standing Committee Amir Khasru said some corrupt businessmen are governing the country exactly the way they run their businesses.
He said, "It is evident that 70%-80% of parliament members are businessmen who lack a political background. They're involved in plundering banks, manipulating the stock market, and profiting from mega-projects. While their actions are depleting the country, their conduct remains immune to scrutiny."
Amir Khasru made these observations during a discussion titled "Sirajul Alam Khan and Future Bangladesh," organised by the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday (17 August).

He further added, "I don't believe that a political entity named 'Awami League' actually exists. The leadership and members of this party seem adept at vote manipulation, engaging in tenders, and acquiring land through violent means, including killings and kidnappings."
He expressed his reluctance to recognise the current government as a legitimate authority.
"A legitimate government should be elected by the people of the country. But the ruling government was not elected by the people."
He criticised the prime minister, stating, "The chief of the Awami League [Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina] does not believe in the electoral process. She disregards the principles of law and humanity."
Amir Khasru underscored the role of historians in chronicling history and highlighted that when politicians document history, its credibility diminishes.
He particularly stressed that when politicians from the current authoritative government – driven by vote manipulation and engaged in unlawful acts – penn historical accounts, such history loses its authenticity.
The event, presided over by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rob, saw participation from notable figures, including Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, the convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad, Advocate Hasnat Qaiyum, Chief Coordinator of the State Reform Movement, Saiful Haque, General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, and Junaid Saki, Chief Coordinator of Gonosonghoti Andolon.
