The securities regulator has approved its Executive Director ATM Tariquzzaman to be the Dhaka bourse's new managing director (MD) — a position that had been vacant since September 2022 — for three years.

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) said before Tariquzzaman joins the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), he has to resign from his post at the commission.

On Monday, the DSE board recommended three candidates including Tariquzzaman for its MD seat. The next day, the bourse sent the names to the BSEC for approval, and the commission made the decision the same day.
