Language Martyrs Day, International Mother Language Day celebrated in China

The Bangladeshi Embassy in Beijing celebrated the Language Martyrs Day and the International Mother Language Day on Friday.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Mahbub Uz Zaman inaugurated the celebration by putting the national flag at half-mast on the embassy premises.
A discussion on the language movement was held in the morning at the embassy's Doel hall, where speakers discussed the historical context and the significance of the Great Martyrs' Day and the International Mother Language Day.

Prayers were offered seeking salvation for the souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, all martyrs of the language movement and the martyrs of the Liberation War. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the language movement.
The speeches of the president, the prime minister, foreign minister and the state minister for Foreign Affairs were also played on the occasion.
The speakers at the celebration said that the main mantra of day is to steer the nation towards the essence of the liberation war.
In the closing remarks, Mahbub Uz Zaman said that the background of the language movement was formed under the united and strong leadership of Bangabandhu, adding that the movement played a significant role in every step of the independence movement.
The ambassador informed everyone that a "Bangabandhu Corner" will be inaugurated at the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing on the occasion of Mujib Year 2020.
All the officials and staff of the embassy were present at the event.
The celebrations concluded with the playing of the song "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano Ekushe February," poetry recitals and documentaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
