The incident took place at about 7am at the Bogarchar union office, around 18 months after the premises were left abandoned.
The programme was led by the union Awami League's organising secretary, Md Sajjad Kadir. They hoisted the national flag and chanted "Joy Bangla" slogans.
Eyewitnesses said several local leaders and activists gathered at the site on the occasion of Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day. A signboard announcing the programme was also placed at the office.
Among those present were Rezaul Karim, a member of the banned union Awami League; Ayub Ali, president of Ward No 4 Awami League; Rezaul, joint secretary of the union Tanti League; and Niamat Ullah, president of the banned union Chhatra League, along with other leaders and activists.
The group also offered a munajat seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs of the language movement. They later left the office premises.

Notably, the office has remained abandoned since 5 August 2024, following incidents of vandalism and arson during the mass uprising that led to the fall of the Awami League government.
