Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Wednesday conducted a mobile court drive in Gulshan area to prevent the reproduction of Aedes mosquito – the carrier of dengue and Chikungunya.

Led by the Executive Magistrate Sajid Anower, the DNCC team conducted the drive from 12pm to 3pm.

During the raid, three real estate companies of ward 50 and 51 of Gulshan 2 have been fined Tk 2 lakh according to the Local Government (City Corporation) Law 2009.

The under construction buildings from these companies were found dirty and damp.

Moreover, the team also found water stored for more than three days, which is a fertile ground for the reproduction of Aedes mosquito.

The three companies are Inster Developer, Dekko group and Shanta Holding, of which Inster Developer was fined with Tk1 lakh. Dekko Group and Shanta Holding were fined Tk50,000 each.

The companies were also asked to inform the mobile court by sending photos of the under construction buildings after cleaning them within the next 12 hours.

The DNCC sources said the raid against illegal establishments will continue.

On the other hand, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) raided 86 under construction buildings and found Aedes mosquito larvae in 12 of them. The property owners were fined Tk2.68 lakh.

So far, the DSCC raided a total of 154 buildings and fined a total of Tk3.58 lakh from 22 property owners.
