Over 5,000 small traders, staff and shop owners aged 18 years and above in the Mirpur area of the capital were administered with the first dose of Sinovac vaccine Saturday after the Uttara area.

The vaccination activities continued from 10 AM till 4 PM at five centres at Mirpur.

The centres were—Shah Ali City Corporation Market, Bengali Medium School, Mirpur Shopping Centre, Shah Ali Plaza and Jannat Academy. As many as 30 vaccinators with the support of 70 volunteers of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society administered the vaccines through on the spot registration.

Two physicians from the Dhaka civil surgeon's office monitored the programme. 

Local lawmaker Kamal Ahmed Majumder inaugurated the vaccination at the Mirpur shopping centre. 

The Secretary-General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Kazi Shafiqul Azam announced the deployment of more vaccinators and volunteers to successfully implement the mass vaccination programme to be held on 26 February across the country.    

The vaccination programme of the small businesses is being implemented by 100 trained vaccinators and 200 volunteers of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society with the support of Coca Cola Foundation.    

The vaccination programme of the small traders and businesses started on 12 February in phases by dividing Dhaka into several zones as part of the target to bring all under vaccination coverage.
