5.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Dhaka, nearby areas
The epicentre was in Myanmar, about 462 kilometres from the Agargaon Meteorological Office in Dhaka.
An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale that struck Myanmar was felt in the capital and several other parts of the country last night (25 February).
The tremor struck at 10:51pm, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's earthquake monitoring centre.
Many residents reported feeling the tremor.
The epicentre was in Myanmar, about 462 kilometres from the Agargaon Meteorological Office in Dhaka.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) also recorded the quake at a magnitude of 5.1, saying it originated at a depth of 129 kilometres beneath the Earth's surface.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties were available.
