Mini Ranji: BCB XI to play Dr DY Patil CA Monday

Touring Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI will face Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary's XI in their 3rd four-day match of the ongoing Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah Memorial Cricket Tournament, also known as Mini Ranji Trophy, on Monday (July 22) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Earlier, BCB XI started their campaign with a draw against Vidarbha Cricket Association in their first four-day match at Alur-2 (Golden Oval) in Bangalore on July 10-13.

The Bangladeshi side posted massive 500 for 7 (declared) featuring two centuries by Mominul Haque (169) and Nazmul Hossain Shanto (118) in the first innings while national coloured left arm spinner Taijul Islam grabbed eight wickets conceding 89 runs to restrict Vidarbha CA at 353 in the first four-dayer.

In the 2nd innings, BCB XI were all out for 175 giving a tough winning target of 323 runs for Vidarbha CA on the last and final day.

In reply, Vidarbha CA scored 38 for 1 when the bails were drawn for the 4th and final day to settle for a draw.

The touring side played to another draw against Dr DY Patil Cricket Academy in their second four-day match of the tournament at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on July 10-13.

In the first innings, left arm spinner of BCB XI Taijul Islam grabbed six wickets conceding 144 runs to bowl out Dr DY PatilCA for 331 while the BCB XI were all dismissed for 306 in their first innings featuring a half century by KaziNurulHossain (87), conceding a first innings lead of 25.

In the 2nd innings, Dr DY Patil CA, who commenced their 2nd innings with 25-run lead, were all out for 311 giving a tough winning target of 336 runs for BCB XI on the last day. Bangladesh speedster fast bowler Taskin Ahmed grabbed five wickets for 69.

In reply, BCB XI opened the 2nd innings and scored 156 for 3 when the bails were drawn for the 4th and final day to settle for a draw.

On the other hand, KSCA Secretary’s XI defeated Dr DY Patil CA by 7 wickets in their first match at the Indian Air Force Ground (IAF) on July 10-13 while they suffered an innings and 121-rundefeat to Vidarbha CA at the KINI Sports venue on July 16-19.

With two draws, the BCB XI are now 3rd in the four-team Group B securing 4 points from two matches while their opponents Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary’s XI are now at the 2nd slot with 5 points from two matches with one win and one defeat.

Among others, Vidarbha Cricket Association are at the top slot securing 8 points from two matches while Dr DY Patil Cricket Academy are at the bottom place earning 3 points from two matches.
