There was good news for Bangladesh Cricket today, as one of the stalwarts of the national side, returned to training. Mahmudullah Riyad, who sustained a hamstring injury during the second Test match against India, resumed practice for his BBPL team the Chattogram Challengers.

Teams are busy preparing for the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL). Three of the seven teams– Dhaka Platoon, Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Thunder trained at the academy ground in Mirpur today.

Mahmudullah's team Chattogram set their bar high for this year's edition. Their wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan said that reaching the semifinals is the initial target for the Challengers.

"Our first target is to reach the semifinals, and then we will think step by step," Sohan said to the media after the practice session.

Chattogram looks balanced on paper. They possess the experience of Mahmudullah Riyad, Imrul Kayes, and Rubel Hossain. Along with the seasoned campaigners, the challengers boast global T20 regulars like Rayad Emrit, Imad Wasim and Ryan Burl.

Sohan also believes that the team has a good balance in batting and bowling.

"The deciding factor in T20 is whoever plays well on the day, wins. Our team (Chattogram Challengers) is balanced in every department. If we can give our hundred percent and do whatever the situation demands, I think we can bring in good results. " added Sohan.

A large number of foreign recruits are yet to join the training camp. Chattogram are expecting their overseas players to join this week.

"Officially the practice of Chattogram Challengers started today. All the Bangladeshi players have arrived, the overseas players are yet to come. The team management can say better when they will arrive. I hope they will arrive within a day or two because the tournament starts on December 11." Said Sohan.

The BBPL kicks off on December 11 at Dhaka and will have an opening ceremony on December 8.
