Commuters suffer due to gridlock on Uttara road
Commuters were stuck on the Tongi-bound lane of Airport Road in a stretched tailback on Tuesday morning.
They complained that despite no visible cause, the traffic of the route did not move an inch for several hours in some instances.
The tormented passengers of the route took it to Facebook to express their dissatisfaction.

Vehicles both private and public were stuck in key points of the route like Abdullahpur, Khilkhet, Kurmitola and as far as Banani and Mohakhali.
However, the primary cause of the gridlock was identified as an accident according to the local traffic officials.
"A goods-laden truck had tripped after hitting a pothole in the Senakalyan area of Tongi. This is why outbound traffic from Khilkhet to Abdullahpur route was slow," Airport Traffic Zone Assistant Commissioner Md Abdullah told The Business Standard.
He also noted that heavy rain in the morning that caused waterlogging along the route could be another cause of traffic gridlock.
Mohakhali Traffic Zone Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed said although the accident took place near the Tongi-Gazipur area it affected the traffic system within the capital city.
"If the traffic pressure in the Gazipur area is not cleared, we are kind of helpless here," he said adding that the tail of gridlock originating in Gazipur has reached as far as Banani.
