Leaders of Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis have demanded immediate arrest of those who have reportedly misbehaved with the organisation's Secretary General Maulana Mamunul Haque on Saturday.

In this regard, a joint statement was issued by the organisation's Ameer Shaikhul Hadith Allama Ismail Nurpuri, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, Maulana Afzalur Rahman, Maulana Rezaul Karim Jalali, Maulana Khurshid Alam Qasemi, Maulana Ali Usman.

Demanding speedy arrest of the people involved, they said the government-backed cadre group is harassing him out of jealousy at his popularity.

This kind of behaviour is harmful to the country and countrymen, the statement added.

Mamunul's voice could not be silenced by attacking and filing lawsuits. Agitated people will be forced to take to the street if this kind of planned conspiracies are not stopped. If an undesirable situation arises, the government will be responsible for that.

Earlier on the day, Mamunul Haque, also the central joint secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, was spotted along with a woman at a resort in the Sonargaon area of Narayanganj. Later, his followers managed to snatch him away from the place he was detained.
