The family claims that Monu's uncle Iqbal Hossain and his men killed him over a land dispute.

Ahmed Ali, the victim's brother, alleged, "Some people, including uncle Iqbal Hossain and his associates Shahadat Hossain and Liton Das, took Monu from the mosque and brought him to Liton's shop. There they beat Monu and injured him with iron rod and hammer.

"Upon receiving the news, we reached the spot, rescued Monu and rushed to Noakhali General Hospital. After giving first aid, Monu was admitted to the hospital where he breathed his last," the victim's brother added.

Shahida Begum, the mother of the deceased said, "We have a dispute with Iqbal over land. That's why Iqbal and his associates took my son Monu from the mosque and beat him to death. I demand a fair trial."

Sudharam Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahed Uddin said, "The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue of the General Hospital for autopsy. Necessary action will be taken in this regard."
