Govt activates emergency response cell, initiates financial support for quake victims

The government has launched immediate emergency measures following the recent earthquake, with the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry opening an emergency response centre under the Disaster Management Directorate.
The centre that was initiated today (22 November), is collecting district-wise primary damage assessments through continuous communication with local administrations.

According to initial reports received from Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi and Magura districts, the earthquake has so far left 10 people dead and 461 injured.
In Dhaka district, particularly within Dhaka city, 4 deaths and 59 injuries were reported.
Narayanganj district recorded 1 death and 18 injuries, while Narsingdi reported 5 deaths and 110 injuries.
Gazipur district reported 252 injuries, and Magura reported 22 injuries.
The ministry said it is maintaining round-the-clock communication with district administrations to coordinate response efforts.
As part of the initial relief support, the government has already started providing financial assistance through the district administrations. Each deceased victim's family is receiving Tk25,000, while each injured person is being given Tk15,000.
Many injured people, after receiving primary treatment in hospitals, have already returned home. Efforts to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the earthquake are underway, and detailed updates will be shared once the assessment is complete.
