World Vision Bangladesh in partnership with City Alo, the women banking division of City Bank, arranged a discussion titled "Visionary Adda" on Tuesday marking International Women's Day.

Following the discussion, child activists Dola Akter Reba, Lamia Akter Mim, Bithe Rani Mondol, Kotha Akter, MD Jahid Iqbal, Akhi Akter, Roma Bormon and Apurbo Chandra Sarker were awarded for their outstanding performance on child protection during and post Covid-19 pandemic period, said a press release.

World Vision Bangladesh National Director Suresh Bartlett speaking as the chief guest said, "We all need to be feminist not because women aren't strong, but we need to change our attitude towards them. And, we can achieve that in our organization, country and all over the world to see the transformational development we are looking for."

Mariam Javed Juhi, head of City Alo Women Banking said the bank's grievance committee works to ensure that no female employee is a victim of exploitation and deprivation at her workplace.
"A total of 17% of the staff working in City Bank are female and we are persistently working for the inclusion of women in every aspect of the bank. We at City Bank ensure complete transparency between our male-female colleagues, starting from their recruitment, promotion, transfer, performance, etc," she added. 

More than 40 representatives from several private and development organizations had participated in the program. Zubayer Zakir Khan, Technical Advisor/Specialist, FSSP-High Commission, Sharmin Islam, Women Economic Empowerment Analyst, UNDP, Dr. Sayed Saikh Imtiaz, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka, Arnob Chakrabarty, Managing Director, Red-Orange, Asif Uddin Ahmed, Acting Director, Assistant Professor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) were present in the programme.
