Md Moinuddin Abdullah, former senior secretary of the agriculture ministry, took charge as the new chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday.

Besides, Jahurul Haque, former chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), took over today as commissioner of the national anti-graft agency.

Earlier on 3 March, the cabinet division issued a gazette notification appointing the new chairman and commissioner of ACC.

However, another Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque Khan will stay in office until July 2023.

Moinuddin Abdullah served in the Bangladesh Civil Service for 35 years. He started his career in the Public Administration Department in 1983 and retired from service as the senior secretary of the agriculture ministry in August 2018.

Throughout his career, he has also held many other important administrative posts, including that of secretary to the Housing and Public Works Ministry and the Industries Ministry.

He was also the director general of the Prime Minister's Office, and the divisional commissioner of Dhaka.

Moinuddin Abdullah obtained his graduate and master's degrees from the Department of Soil Science of Dhaka University. He was born in Cumilla in 1959.

Meanwhile, former BTRC chairman Jahurul Haque started his career as a sub-judge in 1983 and retired from the judicial career as a session judge in 2014.

He was born in Jamalpur district on 5 December, 1955.
